Media overmolding is a plastic injection molding process in which thermoplastics is molded around an inserted piece of flat or pleated media placed in the molding cavity. The resulting product is an integrated assembly with a strong bond between the thermoplastic and media.

This process is mainly used for filtration applications, but can be incorporated into a wide range of products.

This type of overmolding is an alternative to products assembled with adhesive or stitching, with additional benefits:

  • Reduced Cycle Time and Labor Costs
  • Improved Product Reliability
  • Accuracy Insert Placement
  • Improved Part Strength
  • Design Flexibility
